Coaches Corner January 2018

Happy New Year!! May all your new resolutions come to fruition. The CrossFit Open is just around the corner. We will be doing one Open style WOD once per week until the competition begins. Those of you who are choosing to participate in the Open, this is good practice to really lay it out on the line and try and push yourself and test what kind of capacity you have gained throughout the year. Even it you have no intention of doing the CrossFIt Open competition, challenging yourself once per week to really push yourself out of your comfort zone is still a good thing. It may seem insignificant, but walking into the gym, and seeing “Open pace” written on the board, embracing the butterflies to start floating around in the stomach, and not letting yourself make any excuses before you even get started is a powerful exercise in and of itself. It does not matter if you don't feel 100% (you never do), it does not matter if you did not sleep well, or if you did not get the perfect pre workout in before class…let the thoughts come, acknowledge them, and then let them go. No excuses, no complaining, just do the work and do it well.

New strength work, nothing fancy. Some tempo, switching up the push/pull, single and double limb work. One WOD per week will be structured in an “Open” style format, so go as hard as possible while maintaining the full range of motion required for each exercise.

Happy New Year!!

Coach Josh
